This beautiful antique French gargoulette, or water jug, hails from the Provence region and dates back to the late 19th century. Hand-thrown with care, it was traditionally used during the hot summer months, with its thick earthenware keeping water cool and fresh. The unglazed bottom allowed for natural evaporation, adding to its functional charm. Its deep yellow ochre colour and unique shape bring a touch of rustic elegance to any home. While it carries the knocks and chips you’d expect from a well-loved household item of this age, it’s brimming with history and character. A true piece of French craftsmanship.
Dimensions: 32cm height.
Pre-loved: in good antique condition. No lid. Some chips and dinks here and there to the glaze but that is what makes it so lovely.
