A very pretty example of an Art Deco preserve jar by Chance Glass. It is in the iconic Spiderweb pattern with a band of red which has been hand painted with white flowers and 2 gilt stripes. The lid is in chrome with a reverse carved lucite handle shaped as a flower.

I'd personally use this in a bathroom filled with cotton pads or buds, or perhaps on a bedside table.

About this design: the Spider's Web pattern was designed by Robert Godden and first produced by Chance Glass in 1934. Production stopped during the war and it was reintroduced in 1946. Coloured and gilded versions like this one started to be produced in about 1950.

Dimensions: 15cm height.

Pre-loved: originally this would have had a chrome foot to it, which is now missing. The chrome of the lid has wear and age to it.
