This will be the third Michel Caugant shape I've managed to find. First it was the crab, next a duck and finally.... A shell!!
Caugant was a French paté maker during 1930s. He sold luxury food in his shop in Bretagne. His son, Michel, created animal shaped tureen dishes to sell the most expensive paté. These tureens have now become very collectible and sought after.
