This is a very rare vintage Roberts Radio because designs like this were limited runs back in the day.

The RT1 was designed by Leslie Bidmead and introduced in April 1958 at £17 8s 9d + purchase tax. It was Roberts First Transistor radio with MW / LW coverage and ferrite rod aerial.

In 1959 they introduced their limited edition yellow covered RT1 radio called 'Champagne' with gold stars and dots.

As on all Vintage Roberts 1950s/60's radios this RT1 stands on the usual Roberts ball bearing turntable for the best reception.

Supplied by Harrods.

It does work (George replaced the outdated Roberts battery with 4 D size functioning batteries) but runs medium and longwave bands. I'd use this as a timeless styling piece.

Dimensions: 24cm x 17cm
