Piero Fornasetti porcelain opera trinket dish 'Teatro alla Scala La Sonnambula' made circa 1950s. This luxury designer dish is made after a theatrical poster for the Bellini opera "La Sonnambula" for the famous la Scala Theater in Milan. I imagine this was originally designed as an ashtray.
About Fornasetti: Fornasetti is a luxury artistic design company founded in 1940 in Milan, now run by the founder's son, Barnaba Fornasetti, which is known internationally for the creation of porcelain and handmade decorative objects for the home. You'll definitely recognise their iconic black and white face plates which you find in the likes of Harrods and Selfridges. Modern examples can be found here.
Dimensions: 16cm x 12cm
Pre-loved: this dish has been used and so there is signs of wear and staining on the porcelain. Gilding is missing from around the edge.
