This has that unmistakable French flea-market feel: a generous old earthenware jug with a softly faded terracotta surface, traces of pinkish wash and visible throwing lines running around the body. The worn finish is the best bit, with areas rubbed back to the clay and plenty of evidence of age and use. A really handsome, unfussy piece for branches, flowers or simply left empty on a table.
