Peter Arscott is a painter and ceramicist known for his expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces. Born in Lima, Peru, he moved to England for school at thirteen before studying at Bristol University. He later spent time in Barcelona, where he taught and exhibited in solo and group shows. In 1983, he moved to London, working as a Blue Badge Guide while exhibiting in galleries, including multiple appearances at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Now based in Ledbury where he has a dedicated studio.
Peter works with grogged porcelain or stoneware, firing each piece to nearly 1300 degrees. His ceramics are always unique, as he never repeats a design or focuses strictly on function. He sees pots and vases as forms to experiment with, shaping them with an off-kilter stance and embracing improvisation, whether in cutting the clay or painting oxides onto the surface. His approach is that of a painter, blurring the boundaries between pottery, sculpture, and painting.
A totally unique and one off piece. Theses typically sell for about £250-£450.
