This majolica green glazed pedestal vide-poche is a beautifully crafted piece and, I believe, dated back to England circa 1875 - 1880. French for ’empty pockets’, the vide-poche is a small bowl or container designed for keeping keys, coins, or small trinkets - it’s as practical as it is decorative.
With its rich green majolica glaze and intricate acanthus leaf pattern, the shaped upper bowl sits gracefully on a pedestal, mirroring the swirling foliage design around the base. A stunning little piece of history that brings a touch of Victorian elegance to any space.
No brand or makers mark on the base, but I do believe it to be antique based on research of similar items.
Dimensions: small - 9cm height, 16cm diameter
Pre-loved: in really excellent condition
